[D&D 5E] Securing the Alliance: An Adventure in Tethyr (IC)

Lorenzo barely feels the nip of the Gnoll's teeth through the high provided by Gnorth's spell. He flashes a shrug and a grin to the Gnoll who doesn't seem too bothered by the illusory double. However, he still does his best to take advantage of what distraction he can when he and his double both make their assault.

OOC: Action: Attack Gnoll

Corilo was impressed with the gnoll's leader tenacity. And with his ability to dodge bolts point-blank. Nevertheless, he was now severely wounded and clearly desperate. Corilo held his breath and aimed carefully.

OOC: Corilo's turn:
He uses his action and bonus action to shoot twice at Grimfang...again! Tough bastard.

If one of my attacks misses, unless it's a roll of 1 or 2, I'll use precision attack:

"When you make a weapon attack roll against a creature, you can expend one superiority die to add it to the roll. You can use this maneuver before or after making the attack roll, but before any effects of the attack are applied."

maneuver roll [roll4]

Should Grimfang die after the first bolt, the closest gnoll is the next target.

With his opponent still recovering from Brue's brutal attack, Corilo sited down his hand crossbow and put a bolt through Grimfang's left eye when the gnoll looked up. Grimfang dropped to the dirt road, his legs kicking a few times before he became very still. Not that Corilo immediately noticed, he was busy putting another bolt through the remaining gnoll's side, using the opening that Grimfang's fall provided.

Lorenzo held his own on the far side of the field, stabbing the gnoll archer. the archer eyed the two Lorenzos, not quite sure which to defend against.

OOC: Both hits, neither required superiority dice. Congrats, Grimfang is dead.

Gnorth and then Scheppen are up

Feeling a bit woozy, the half orc rattles off a quick rhythm with his tongue and teeth, feeling emboldened by Brue's presence and Corilo's straight shooting. Man that man is fast. Gnorth remarks to himself.

"I got 'im" Gnorth takes up his hammer in a one handed swing, trying to finish off the remaining gnoll.

OOC: As a bonus action, Gnorth casts healing word on himself to buy himself some more time. [roll0]. As his action, Gnorth attempts a two handed swing on the remaining Gnoll in front of him. [roll1] [roll2] If the gnoll drops, Gnorth will move to N10. If gnoll still stands, Gnorth stays.

The Gnoll leader decidedly vanquished, Boddynock switches targets.

"Pessulum flamma!"

The fiery bolt stretched out from his hands, taking the shape of an arrow, racing towards the gnoll archer.

OOC: Casting Fire Bolt (cantrip). Targeting the lone gnoll archer.

You hurl a mote of fire at a creature or object within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 fire damage. A flammable object hit by this spell ignites if it isn’t being worn or carried.

Attack: [roll0]
Damage: [roll1]

No surge as this is a cantrip.

27/30 Hit Points
1/4 Sorcery points
3/2 Spell slots

Gnorth brained the gnoll standing in front of him with a vicious overhand smash. His foe falling lifeless to the ground, the half-orc stepped over its body while healing himself with a spell. Over his shoulder and a little above him, Scheppen let loose a flaming bolt from the seat plank of the cart that singed the hide of the gnoll archer. Donkey Jote critically devoured a clump of grass.

The gnoll engaged with Lorenzo eyed both of his opponents warily and snapped at the image of Lorenzo. It was surprised when its teeth closed on nothing.

The gnoll archer, apparently having had enough of this, fled to the west.

OOC: Gnoll1 - Attack (Lorenzo Dupe) [roll0] (Doesn't matter)
Gnoll2 - Move and Dash, 60' west

Gnoll 2 is off the map but in range of missile weapons (He's 30' past the edge of the map in row 11, if it helps). Normal range this round for heavy crossbows assuming you move 30' in his direction, but as he will be moving and dashing each round, long range for subsequent rounds (unless Corilo hops on Andel and tries to track him down... alone).

Action is to Brue and then everyone else in order

Seeing both Grimjaw and the gnoll adjacent to him fall, Brue looked around to take stock of the situation. Lorenzo looked like he had a gnoll well in hand, and the last of the gnolls had run off, evidently. Brue turned to Corilo. "You're injured. I can heal you a little, if you'd like. Your choice." She waited for Corilo's response.

Corilo smiles at Brue "It's just a scratch, don't worry." He then turns his head towards the last gnoll on the battlefield "Let us finish this" he says with a grin.

OOC: AFAIK, I've taken only 4 damage until now. My second wind will be enough.

Brue nodded at the crossbowman. She turned and headed toward the last gnoll and Lorenzo. Seeing an opportunity to skirt around and prevent retreat, to K2.

OOC: Move: to K2, skirting around the backside of the rocks.

Action: Dash.

Corilo eyed the fleeing gnoll. Poor visibility, uninjured target, vegetation in the way, out of range of the hand crossbow. He shrugged and decided to give Lorenzo an hand, even though, apparently, the soldier of fortune had the ability to summon his own backup. An amazing magical feat, to be sure.

OOC: Corilo's turn:

Moves to R5.

Action and bonus action to shoot at the gnoll close to Lorenzo.
