The amount of art you'd need to buy to fill out a 320 page book is huge. Following it up with a pair of 384 page books just to get the PHB, DMG, and MM finalized is so very, very, high.

The workload of the material is something a small group of people could easily work together to achieve over the course of a year or two. But art?

It's expensive, it takes forever, it's amazing, and it's 100% essential to get people to look at your writing long enough to care.

OSR uses B&W a lot maybe splurge on the cover.

Basic fantasy is 100 pages.

Hell I've written more it seems. Its not in any remote state to publish tbf.

Even 1 page of houserules can drastically change an edition.

At least you produce stuff thats respectable lol.

Big thing imho is simple-complexity slider. People here lean towards complexity but dont wamt to write it. Because of its complexity.
