D&D and Computer Games, through the ages

Yep, that. I use BGTutu, but there is also an option to play BG and BG2 straight through. Note that you have to have both games installed, and I recommend a full install for both if you have the disk space.

Runs fine on Vista with a little very minor tweaking. Only problem I've seen is an infrequent crash when leaving Beregost and a strange inability to sell magical crossbow bolts at any of the vendors. Oh, and the journal entries for the prologue appear under Chapter 1. More than worth it, if only for the faster character move speeds in-game and the ability to buy ammo in bulk rather than one lot at a time.

What year did you start playing D&D, and what were the adventure video games you played to get the D&D feel when not actually playing D&D?

Bullgrit
Wow, back in 1996 I think was first year. AD&D.

I played Neverwinter, Buldar's Gate I, II (PC and PS2 versions), D&D on Gameboy "Eye of Beholder", a few others, and lastly currently trying to get through Temple of Elemental Evil, but the game so buggy. I also played DDO which has a real D&D feel, but can't always get online.

It keeps corrupting my save when I reach the temple so I have to start over. I want to beat it at least once.

I wonder if there will ever be a full 3.5 game (Buldar's Gate for PC is 2.0, Neverwinter is 3.0, and ToEE is 3.25) or 4.0.

I was first introduced to D&D by my babysitter. Best. Babysitter. EVAR! Though I didnt actually first play it until the Pools of Radiance series and the Savage Frontier series for the PC. Maybe that's why I'm still a fan of FR after so long?

Though before that there were games I played on the NES, like Final Fantasy, Ultima, and Swords & Serpents, which certainly had D&D elements.

EDIT:
I take that back, Rogue would be the first I ever played, way back on a Tandy 1000 when I was like, six. Take THAT, letter H ! I still remember learning what "Quaff" meant. And then there was Castle of the Winds! I think that was the first game I bought with my own money.

I started playing the late 70s, but my first and fave computer game memories were

Temple of Apshai
Telengard
Wizardry
Phantasie (SSI)
Questron

and especially EAMON Which had plenty of adventures/scenarios

Ultima II/III, the Zork/Planetfall series were excellent as well.

For "newer" stuff I liked the ES:Arena & Daggerfall games and StoneKeep (buggy as it was)

My fave of the D&D games would be (the original) Pool of Radiance for sure, and Baldur's Gate (though I've never come close to finishing it). I also liked the Stone Prophet (Ravenloft) game and had fun with "DungeonHack" or whatever it was called.
