Seemed more reasonable than most media portrayals of D&D. Probably pretty informative to someone who isn't in the hobby.

A decent look at the hobby for outsiders. What I especially liked about it was that it showed a wide variety of players, from kids, to costumed geeks, to 'normal' folk.

The beginning of the video, (starting with chess and Strategos), suggested this was going to be interesting and insightful about the influence of RPGs in our current culture. But by the end, it didn't really say all that much. The reference to RPG/D&D influence on modern video games was just that, merely a reference. I was left feeling meh. I was disappointed.

But I posted it here thinking maybe someone would find it interesting.

How much depth can there be in a video less than ten minutes long, presumably meant for an audience that knows little to nothing about the topic? If there's a longer program out there somewhere, then I would expect it to say more.

As [MENTION=40172]Ed_Laprade[/MENTION] said, the good thing is showing RPGers as a diverse bunch of people having fun together.

But why did they have to use Hamburgum, a game about politichal machinations in a medieval city, as background when mentioning wargames? You see, they didn't really understand true geekdom.
