G'day!

Amongst the pictures of the D&D Miniatures on the www.figures.com website, there are also pictures of the D&D Basic (Adventure) Game.

You can find them here: Gallery page

I can see:
* Two booklets: a red "Adventure Book", and a blue un-named book
* 3 character sheets/char gen info sheets
* 2 cardboard map-boards
* 6 dice
* the box

The box says "16 pre-painted miniatures" and "Basic to set up and play", also it's entitled "Dungeons and Dragons Basic Set Adventure Game"

Cheers!

That sounds right. I recall reading somewhere that WOTC wanted to make the Adventure set to look like the original pamplet versions of D&D from the 70s.

Actually, from what I've heard I think there are rules for (simple) character creation in this game.

Cheers!

I definitely hope so. First time I played a RPG the part I found most exciting was exactly to create a character, I can't imagine a D&D starting game without it ;)

The trick is making char gen simpler so that it's truely enjoyable for newbies and not a two-hour math seminar
