D&D Bathtub?

My mental image of gold coins in D&D has always had them closer to half-dollar size, maybe a touch smaller in diameter, but thicker.

I don't mind it much for the gold. For the coppers, however, it just seems ludicrous.

It does seem a little large for copper coins. Maybe they're just really thick to make up the weight!

And here I thought you were gonna fill a tub with water, put in some toy ships with minis on them and have a sea adventure. Oh well; maybe next time.

Maybe they'll put a heat metal spell on it and then a levitate to dumb it on some foes head. I guess it won't kill anybody, but the faces will be priceless. At least that's what a druid from my former group did once.

The 3.5 SRD lists a barrel at 2 gp and 30 lb. For a tub I might double that.

Depending on the campaign setting, a wooden bathtub might make more sense than a metal one:

Probably cheaper than metal in your world. I'd extrapolate from your in-game price list for whiskey or wine barrels, sans contents.

Add animation to the tub and use it to hold treasure in.

But a barrel will work too, just stand in it.

Or a folding oiled cloth bathtub. (Been a long time since I have seen one, even as an antique.)
