I love this subclass and the way it works makes sense, but does the bonus spells eciplse the other Sorcerer subclasses too much?

Maybe the bonus spells are a stealth test for Color-based bonus spells, similar to what was done for the Guilds in Ravnica.

The other possibility someone else mentioned in another thread (my apologies for forgetting who it was) was that perhaps those bonus spells are actually just a placeholder for psionic abilities that will be used instead once they finally get their psionic mechanics squared away. So for example, if psionics and the Psion class ends up being its own mechanical format separate from spells... the Aberrant Mind might be like your typical subclass multiclass (like the Eldritch Knight). You'll have the normal spells of a sorcerer, plus a few psionic abilities "multiclassed" in from the Psion as part of the subclass.

Possibilities are pretty endless right now.

What we can say is that UA has become sneaky and prone to clever misdirection since it became Crawford's circus after Mearls promotion. They are not neccesarily testing what they seem to be testing all the time.

That this is the wrong way to get feed back on that as it will twist the results because of balance issues to do with the Sorcerer.

They don't use UA for balance issues. Never have. It's always been for that illusive "feeling". How does this thing feel? Do the ideas make sense, are they compelling, do they work within the context of what they are going for?

So they would care more about how do these psychic/ psionic abilities feel and work within the context of this subclass. And any responses of "this shouldn't get extra spells because other sorcerer subclasses don't!" can be safely ignored.
