D&D General D&D Beyond: How do you add a ranger's primal companion?

Dragonhelm

Knight of Solamnia
As I understand it, the way you add an animal companion, sidekick, etc. in D&D Beyond is to go to the Extras tab and click Manage Extras. I can see the beast companion from 2014, but there appears to be no way to select Beast of the Land, etc.

Am I missing something here?

Do you mean during character creation? If so...
1. make sure you have 2024 sources available ( I would turn 2014, and anything else you're not using off)
2. Under Ranger (Beastmaster subclass) features you can select Beast of the Land.

Have you actually tried making a 2024 Beastmaster in DDB? Honestly asking since maybe I'm misunderstanding the OP's question.
Yes. in the dropdown for Extras where you can choose the type of extra, there is no option for the primal companion from the phb. In fact, iirc there is no way to get the Beast of The Land as an extra ata all except to make one as a homebrew monster and add it.

Right, because it appears as a Feature

Wait...what? I just made a quick 2024 ranger and its in a drop down under class features for the Beastmaster...its also on the digital sheet under features and I can pull the stats up for it by touching the ability....

That is not a statblock. It is not the creature. It is just the feature.

No, you cannot. You can pull up the rules, and the statblock template. It is not possible anywhere to actually pull up your primal companion as a complete statblock.

A template thst says "AC: 13 plus your wisdom modifier" is not a statblock of your primal companion, it is a template that shows the rules for a primal companion.

The OP is clearly asking for a way to add it just like you can add a familiar or a 2014 companion in the character sheet and it gives you a complete statblock on your sheet.

Correct. It's not a stat block.
It merely shows the HP, AC, attack information and anything else you'd need when you click into the feature.

Smh...yeah I guess it only gives you all the info you need to run the creature...I stand corrected as far as it technically being a stat block.
