D&D Books That Don't Really Get Used

ELH, BoVD and the BoED are both good examples of this for me. I bought them purely for the monster sections and thats all they get (occasional) use of. The rest of those books are of no interest to me for various reasons.

With monster books they all get used as my players are all experienced players so new beasties are a must for me.

Let's see. D&D books I don't use... hmmm....

Well, recently (last 3 years or so) all of them. Still own them, and look at them for ideas now and then, for whatever reasons I might have at the time, but I don't "use" them.

When I actually played D&D.... I didn't ever use PsiHB, DMG, MM, MMII, A&EG, SS, MotP, D&DG, any of the class "splats", OA, and a bunch of others. Of course, I own them, but, again, I didn't "use" them. And, here, I'm talking about WotC books only. They had a taste of "blah" to me. All stuff I'd seen before. Was the same way with ToH by NG, too. I don't use that book, but I own it.

I think I've used at least something from every RPG book I own. I make it a point to go through the books every once in a while, looking for things appropriate to the campaign at the moment.

Heck, I got the DMG2 yesterday and I already used it in tonight's game.

I often try to use something from new books within a week or two. It doesn't always work- I still haven't managed to use anything from AEG's Evil, for instance- but sometimes it is the day I buy it, we game, and I get to use something very inspirational (the cadaver collector from the MM3, for instance).

I haven't used Manual of the Planes or Deities and Demigods since I purchased them and read them, but I'm planning a new campaign setting soon, so I will probably pull them out for that. Other books I haven't used have already gone up on eBay.

Ditto. Also Draconomicon and Epic Handbook (no one has lasted to high enough levels yet).

BoVD because I'm just not that evil, yet. :]

Complete Divine because no one has wanted to.

About fifty to sixty percent of the books I buy for D&D I'd say I don't get adequate use out of. Where as only ten percent of the books I buy for the game see consistent use. Which is why I do not buy too many books.

Generally, if I don't see using it, I just don't buy it.

Sometimes I am wrong. But in those cases, I certainly don't want to be wrong...

Anyways, I recently went through the project of actually writing down monsters from various books that I want ot use in th game, so I could start seeing how to use them. The same could apply to other books.
