So I gather the point is to have a single set of plastic disks and only have to buy cheaper sheets of monster decals to temporarily stick on them, rather than buy more expensive sheets of heavy cardboard pog-type tokens or even more expensive minis. The magnetic feature could be useful to stick on white-boards on the wall or something.
Am I understanding that correctly?

Sticking markers to the tokens for status effects will be useful. Also they'll probably stick to those magnetic bases of mini's as status effect markers.

Also third parties could print clings for their monsters.

I'm wondering if there is a printable cling sheet somewhere. Looking.

I'm not sure what is the purpose of the platic disks?
What's the price for the box, it does seem like something I'd buy.
These are a new style of token, the "clings" are not stickers, they can be placed and removed from the plastic disks. So, once you've put the clings you want for the encounter on disks, they work just like any other flat token, to be used instead of miniatures or standees. Then, when done, you put the clings back on the sheets and you're ready to build the next encounter.

These are portable, should take up WAY less storage than miniatures, standees, or even other flat tokens. The plastic disks are sturdy and magnetic, you'll be able to use them on whiteboards, maps pinned to whiteboards, and even on your fridge! Later (hopefully), you'll be able to buy more and different clings, but use the same set of plastic disks.

My concern is how durable are the clings themselves. Do they become less "clingy" over time, and thus, less useful?

Yes.

Oooh, those do look neat. I very much like the concept. Like @Dire Bare said, my only concern is the durability of the decals - are they prone to damage over time, and will they continue to stick after prolonged use?

Also, how many creatures are in the set? I doubt it's everything from the MM if it's just five sheets, but what is thee and what is left out? EDIT: I see he posted pictures of the sheets. Looks like a decent selection, but hopefully if this is successful they'll release an expansion with more sheets to cover what's missing and for monsters from other books...

IIRC there are a easy trick to restore the clingy-ness of those things. I saw a video on Fb once for those clings you put on your windows at Haloween and such.
