I voted monk because that should remain in an OA supplement.

But I also think that several of the classes would be better suited as PrC's (Paladin, Druid, Ranger). I dont think the classes should be dropped though just changed to PrCs.

Bards (which I also dont like personally) should have a place, drop the class and make their abilities a feat chain. Esentially anyone could do it then, rogue with bard abilities? yes.

Barbarian as it is needs to go or at least be renamed berserker! because like someone else said a class tied to a cultural schtic is dumb.

Oh, and since rogues have the best record so far. Here is my beef with them: they are all the same give them ability choices or feats or something every rogue is exactly the same switch em up. I suppose that is not reason to drop them but just change them

Don't like the monk.

Never have, never will.

Even though I grew up in the heyday of Kung Fu Fighting, I don't get their appeal in an otherwise Western-mythos game.

At least rogues can be differentiated by skill choices. You can have your "face" rogue, your "cat burglar" rogue or your "combat" rogue. Every straight monk is basically the same.

Wait a minute, every class can differentiate their skill choices. You can have a dex monk a strength monk or a wisdom monk. All of which can be effective in different ways each emphesizing their different strengths. A rogue on the other hand (skill differentiation aside)nearly always hava a high dex and not until 10th level do they look any different from any other rogue.

The psion is a much better spontaneous-type caster as well.

Psions are just a pointless complication to a perfectly good system IMO. We were quite happily blissfully ignorant of them until our DM decided it would be a good idea to introduce them in order to counteract our abilities!

How many different 'magic' classes do you need anyway. It was just an excuse to be able to rip off what had already been printed, name it something different, give it a slightly different mechanic and make a load of money.

Ok so I know Psions aren't listed but, man, they've gotta go anyway. :]

You want to say that to my Dwarven Trapspringer? Little Dex, high Str, Con and Int. Good in combat (tough enough to survive to get into flank), and good at those Int based skills.
There are way too many class skills for any rogue to have them all high, so which ones you pick will decide in part what kind of rogue you are.
Not every rogue is a sneaky acrobat.

You've got a point, but I still think (as Suele points out) that the rogue can be differentiated more easily and still be effective. Sure any character can choose any skills, but the rogue has a wide variety of class skills so he's not hamstringing himself taking cross-class skills.

One thing that the monk does get is those bonus feats at 1st, 2nd and 6th level. I broaden the available feats in my game so a monk can concentrate on, say, grappling or high-flying head-kicking maneuvers. That gives them a little more variety than they have in the RAW.
