D&D 5E D&D Icons of the Realms Starter Sets have arrived

Are minis like the PF minis (I.e made of more rigid plastic and glued to the base) or like the old D&D minis (I.e. Made of more bendable plastic molded to the base)?
They seem a bit stiffer than the old D&D minis, but more flexible than the Pathfinder. I are molded to the base.

My only real experience with WotC prepainted minis was with their Star Wars line, which quality-wise much left to be desired. I want to like these and start picking up D&D minis, but their standard of quality has to have improved since them for me to do so.
The painting quality is similar to the Pathfinder (they are made by the same people), although the colors are a bit more subdued.

I stopped getting minis a while ago, mainly cos I have enough. But they don't appear to be as 'nice' as the earlier D&D ones, though similar to the ones of the 4E era. Hard to tell in a blister pack pic, I guess.

Sounds good. Thanks.

Yeah, not for me. Thanks for posting a picture, though.

So here's a question: Why are minis 14+ but the game is 12+? What is possible with minis that they aren't recommended for 12-13 year olds?

They should have made two sets. One set like the did and one set with Eliminster and the other minis with the opposite sex.

Click for more about D&DMike also comments on the way the XP table kinks at level 10. "Level 10 - 11 XP: It's by design. Data shows campaigns stop at 10, we're trying to speed up 10+ a bit so groups can reach 20 in a campaign. Part of thinking behind that is it looks like campaign length might be dictated by how long the group can consistently meet. Interestingly enough, groups seemed to want to level much faster than we expected, and campaigns were shorter than we expected, too."

Ugh. What a weird thing to bake into the cake.

(That's becoming my 5e refrain...)
