D&D in Maxim

Azure Trance

First Post
While perusing the July Issue of Maxim (with Charlies Angel on the cover - Drew, Lucy, Cameron) I saw an ad that took up a quarter of a page for a D&D DVD (The last time I saw an ad for D&D in Maxim was when 3.0 was going to be released). The name wasn't familiar though, it was something like a story-based DVD with a trillion possible story combinations.

What was it? Was it any good? And, this is probably just personal preference but I don't think advertising in Maxim is that effective since there has to be a better way to reach the gamer demographic in a cheaper fashion (say, Dungeon / Poly / Dragon).

It's a good idea if you ask me - it shouldn't be in Maxim, but it shouldn't just be in Dragon/Dungeon either. WotC hasn't really advertised DnD to people who don't know about it.

I know of lots of people who were introduced to DnD by Baldur's Gate.

I wonder what would happen to the size of the D&D community if it started getting advertised in more popular magazines. It would be interesting to see. I don't see it happening anytime soon though.

Got Milk took milk from being the domain of children under 12 to being the domain of hot supermodels. A few well-placed ads, and who knows what's possible?

Sigh.

There's been one supermodel associated with D&D. Alas, I forgot her name. See the GM commercial.
