D&D in Maxim

The demographic might not be as off as some might think. One of the game I play in is run by a Frat boy who also gets a subscription to Maxim. There are two other members of his Frat in our game, and I know of at least two other all frat games.

There's been one supermodel associated with D&D. Alas, I forgot her name. See the GM commercial.

Yamila Diaz.

While it wasn't exactly an ad for D&D, don't forget the full pager with the nymph for Neverwinter Nights.

I remember Maxim with adds for D&D (or some D&D related products) that featured a pretty hot nymph in a full page add. That rendering looked like a super model with super-goofy-long ears.

I think Maxim has a few staff members that are closet gamers. Having been a subscriber since issue 1, I've noticed the occasional comment about D&D. Now admitedly it is usually something making fun of gamers, but it is in such a way that only a gamer would have thought of it.

You know, they showed that GM ad here locally every so often, and not once did they show the PHB in it. Only in the online version of the ad did I see what the commotion was all about. Do you think there are regional variations in the ad, or was it just a slightly shorter version that excluded that scene?

Odd, in any case.

Pretty much very television ad is created with a 60 second version and a 30 second version.

The usual tactic is to show the 60 second version at the beginning of the ad campaign and then once it has been out for a while they will drop back to the 30 second version, since it is cheaper to keep on the air, and still keep the brand in the consumer's consciousness.

Can you tell that I work in the advertising industry?
