Whatever side of an argument one is on, QFT doesn't add any more to a thread than "me too," which people try and avoid doing.
Actually, when you are talking about the potential market for something, "me too" says a lot.

I'm not claiming that WotC is making a good or bad move in this plan we don't really know about yet.

But simply expressing agreement with a position someone else has taken can often be highly valuable to the thread. And this is a good case of that.

You forgot to highlight in red Monster Mayhem on the list. They no longer publish new/converted monsters on the site like they used to, anymore (which I miss terribly). :(

I would be astounded if that were the case. I have purchased several WotC books on the strength of the preview, the web enhancement, or the Design & Development column, all of which will be moved to the pay only section of the site, and which I therefore won't be accessing.
Hopefully the previews thing was just someone tossing everything they could think of into the survey. Marketing should reach out to people who AREN'T giving you money currently and attempt to change that.

In fact, I can't imagine that the previews we see today will really go away, although maybe the subscribers will see more detailed ones.

You don't honestly think they do this out of the goodness of their hearts, do you?

They do it because it sells books.

...So I expect the well to be filled as long as they want me to keep buying books.

I think that whatever they gain from the few suckers who sign up for this will be more than offset by lost book sales.
That's my point. They do this to sell books yes. But if they wanted to sell books, they would just post book previews. They have been building this up for some time. Its like a drug dealer. You build a clientel. then you start selling it

Wait, you have a problem with QFT, but not with someone basically calling anyone who will subscribe to WOTC's plans "suckers"? You'll forgive me if I don't take any of your points seriously from this point on then.

For me at times especially on this board where pedantry seems to be the point of these arguments, rather than the the actual topic, I really prefer not to engage in a long drawn out argument of my own. So when I see someone post something that I do agree with I say so. When the mods step in and tell me to stop then I will but until then you might want to put me on ignore.

When did I say that I had no problem with it? It's just that this board has been overrun with "QFT" in the past six months, to the point that there are threads where more than one post in 10 is nothing but that.

You probably should switch to decaf.

Because you obviously though it more important to quell the QFT than to respond to the "suckers" comment upthread. So I took that as personal attacks = OK. QTF = BAD.

I would if I actually drank coffee...no, wait that was you trying to be clever wasnt it?

Or, as I explained, the QFT thing has been running rampant here for months and I'm responding to the accumulation of months' worth of annoyance.

If it's not a caffeine issue, you need to find some other way to chill out. You're getting way too upset about a misunderstanding.

Yeah but as you responded after I posted what was to me a fairly harmless (aka QFT)response you could see how I could have taken that the wrong way though, right.

Rest assured I'm not nearly as riled up as you seem to think I am. I just have a problem with what I call "net bravery" and try to deal with it as directly as possible. I'm of the mind that more than half of the people who post aggressively on the net wouldnt be like that to someone's face in meatspace and I try to directly confront those who do that sort of thing.

If you say it's a misunderstanding though, I'm willing to take that at face value. Fair enough?

I was just happy to be quoted for truth...it's never happened to me before, so it made my day.
