D&D meets RIFTS

I came upon this idea over the weekend and thought it was pretty neat. This would basically be like Rifts, but using as many campaign settings and options that was available(DM approved of course). You could have a genasi from FR, wildlander from Midnight, a melnibonean sorcerer, and well...anything else thrown in :)

What I'm figuring would be the way to go about it is to create a Nexus world in which was at the middle of the other campaign settings and sucks people and creature from the other planes to it.

I doubt I'd use this idea as the work involved could be pretty monumentus, but thought I'd throw it out there..

You're probably looking for Planescape. http://www.planewalker.com/ is the "offical fan site", and the inheritor of a community that had a major effect on some of the 2e Planescape books.

Planescape is set in Sigil, the city at the center of the Outlands of Concordant Opposition in the planar ring cosmology--which, in 2e, included EVERY world WotC published. It shouldn't be too hard to adapt it to the new multiple-world cosmology.

Yeah, this probably was an underlying source of my idea, but not exactly what I was having in mind. Basically the idea would be of a Sigil that is on a worldly scale. Or perhaps a nicer Ravenloft could be close as well(at least 2e, not sure if 3e Ravenloft still sucks people in from other realms).

Actually, there is a book that might be exactly what you are looking for:

Ah, Second World. I can personally recommend it, as it is my current campaign setting of choice.

The basic concept of the book is to set up a crossworlds gaming experience, where modern characters can (or in some cases, are compelled to) travel to a fantasy version of Earth which has been heavily influenced by modern (or "First World") earth.

However, I must admit it is not the first thing I thought of when you mentioned:

Um, that's Oathbound almost to a 'T", but unlike RIFTS, oathbound has little high-tech.
