D&D General D&D memes thread discussion…

I don’t get this one. Would someone mind explaining it to me?
I think the joke is that Fournival has been telling the dragon, and maybe others as well, that they are the one true love and soulmate of Arisen. Not sure if Arisen is a name or a title. Anyway, Arisen says that's not true and the dragon starts floundering because this ruins their whole "fight me or sacrifice your loved one" bit.

I don't play Dragon's Dogma, but I always heard the main character (called an Arisen) builds up relationship points. And when they confront the dragon they threaten whoever is highest on the relationship charts. If NONE of the potential romance options has a positive relationship score, it defaults to some random merchant guy.

That's my rough understanding, anyway. I'm sure there's more to it. But I distinctly remember people posting about the guy ending up as their "Beloved" completely on accident.

Huh. TIL there's a lot of nerd stuff out there that I have no connection with. But love that others do...
Yes, echoing pukunui - thanks the explanation

What if I am offended by the meme about the Italian setting? (I hear people being offended by anything, today I decided I would). It doesn't seem to me that other states are any less bizarre (and I could just start with the U.S.).
For the famous series: "from what pulpit..." (don't know if you understand me, it's a very Italian way of saying)

Shouldn't that be a giant air elemental? Perhaps even a tornado?
