D&D Miniature Accessories?

So does anyone know if WoTC plans to make any accessories for their miniatures?

I don't think they will, but it would be cool. I'm a sucker for cool terrain. Resin bits can be a bit expensive. If you wanted something like this, what would you want? Also, did you ever think of just making it yourself? We still have something up our sleeves that will knock your socks off, but I can't divulge just yet...

I'd also like them to change the bases of the figures to something with some texture on it. The plain feature is okay, but I'd like to see them actually make it part of the figure in a meaningful way outside of a stablizing platform. Stones or dungeon tiles maybe?

This I wouldn't be too crazy about. I like that they are plain. If your placing miniatures with grass bases in a dungeon setting, it looks kinda goofy. Its not too hard to add flock or some other type of texture to them.

Official carrying cases for the miniatures.

I don't think there is a need for this because a ziplock bags works fine. Cases are good for metal miniatures (and I have many cases full of GW stuff), but I carry my D&D figs in a plastic bag. They are easier to transport and honestly, IMO, they are not worth protecting. I guess I just don't care if they get bent up cuz they're cheap.

Official life point trackers... There are so many little areas where I think WoTC is just missing the boat.

Do you really think people would buy this stuff? I've done a lot of polls on the D&D Miniatures, and it seems that people don't play the miniature game so much. I could be way off base, but I'm not sure if this stuff would sell. Check out the stuff that GaleForce Nine does as far as accessories. Very cool. Website is: http://www.gf9.com

As to GW, Warhammer is more of a hobby of itself. I think that people who do play the D&D Minis game are more casual players. Again, I could be wrong, but these are some observations from a former GW fanatic.

Or a guide for collecting them? Repainting them? So many options with the little buggers.

We're in the process doing a scenery line that will focus on making cool terrain pieces for RPGs. I definitely agree and see some potential, I'm just not sure how well products marketed to a diehard miniature audience would work on the D&D mini crowd.

Tables, etc? It's possible we may see them in the future. It's worth noting that furniture packs may be quite expensive: I remember the cost of the Mage Knight dungeon packs, etc. It wasn't that cheap.

These type of miniatures should be dirt cheap. Anyone with an ounce of patience can sculpt and cast these yourself. They would be able to sell these at really low prices provided they moved. The reason why they could have been expensive, might have been them thinking they wouldn't sell well and they were marked up. Just a guess on my part, but I do see a lot of these on retailers shelves...

For carrying cases, I'm also thinking about organization as opposed to carrying utility. As I went through my miniatures, which brought up these topics, I've been using a toolbox bit holder that I've labeled with the good old permanent marker. Most of the character miniatures I have I've put into a big old cardboard box. Any larger or huge figures I have, I've had to put into a seperate box as their bases get caught in the toolbox.

As far as playing the game, to be honest, I rarely play it. I do however, see people playing it at Games Plus on occassion so I know someone's playing it. There also seems to be some good websupport which usually isn't offered unless the material's being used and has a fan base that can help add to it.

For terrain, I have a lot of dwarven forge stuff. It's cool but it's all dungeon based. I like some of the stuff they came out with for Mage Knight (not by the company, but for use with), and have picked up some of it. However, there are no grid lines on it. That's when you have to break out the cursed ruler!

Heroscape is doing outdoor scenery starting with a bridge & trees set. There's a rumour that they're working on castle walls, towers etc but I don't have any proof.

Heroscape bases are hexes, not squares, and therefore may not be to everyone's taste.

Another link for a great warband generator

http://www3.telus.net/kbales/

It's a coded excel spreadsheet. You can build warbands (warband building commander effects and the like are in effect), create a warband sheet (with all the data on one page) and print it. There's also a spell reference (What spell is available to what faction with what figure) and he's working on incorporating the RPG stats as well. Plus you can import your collection data from maxminis.

As for carrying cases: You will find what you are looking for in DIY centres.
