D&D Miniatures 2009 - a question

:hmm: The OP stated that after reading an Ampersand he questioned what was going to happen to DDM. How can I know what is in the Ampersands. Seems a lot fo stuff is getting hidden in them when they were supposed to be the free thing for DDI for non-subscribers. Like an ultra mini mag for those not getting Dungeon or Dragon. Now even the info on the layoff and reorganization is in an Ampersand where it should not be behind a firewall. If you cannot see the problem in that only "insiders" get REAL info about D&D then I don't know what to tell you.
Insider subscribers get additional game material and previews, not an inside look at corporate mechanics. As far as information about the layoff/reorganization goes, WotC is under no obligation to explain its actions to anybody other than its shareholders. That it was briefly addressed in Ampersand is a courtesy, and nothing else.

The OP's question stemmed from the fact that this month's Ampersand article showed previews of the new DDM statcard format. The OP wasn't up-to-date with the news, and that's fine; he came here, asked an honest question, and got an honest answer. It doesn't change the fact that this news was already publicly and freely explained on the WotC website a month-and-a-half ago, here and here. No "REAL info about D&D" is being "hidden... behind a firewall."

To give you a perhaps more graphic example, if next month's Ampersand happens to mention the American President-Elect, or the current price of oil, or Christmas, and someone comes here and asks, "Who's the new President?/Oil is at how many dollars per barrel?/It was Christmas?" it's equally invalid for someone else to come here and claim that Ampersand is "[hiding information]... behind a firewall," when the information in question is, in fact, public knowledge. To be blunt, it's hardly Bill Slavicsek's or WotC's fault that the OP doesn't follow the news.

(Let's be clear, though: I'm not trying to pass judgement upon the OP here, but rather you, justanobody, for spreading misinformation in a cheap, vain attempt to discredit D&DI. At worst, your actions might even constitute defamation or libel.)
OMG! Somebody on the internet taking a thread in a slightly tangential direction or posting something in order to argue for or support their own particular viewpoint!

The horror, wont somebody think of the children, please.....
