D&D Miniatures - Huge Gold Dragon!

The Gold Dragon looks pretty good in my opinion, the Red as well, and the Rakshasa (did I spell that correctly?).

I think so. :)

I advise anyone who wants to use the Rakshasa in their RPG to read Roger Zelazny's Lord of Light.

(I find it unfortunate that the D&D Rakshasa has been permanently associated with a humanoid tiger, because they're not! It's just the cool art picture from the original Monster Manual and an ignorance of what the text said!)

Cheers!

On the topic of the Dragons ...

Mike Donais over on the WotC Boards has mentioned measuing the minis on top of his monitor. One mini is clearly a dragon, which he claims is his favourite. So is it the Gold or the Red?

Cheers :)

Don't know any more. :) It was 5" to the highest wing tip, though.

Cheers!

In one of the Gord the Rogue books, Gord fights a Greater Rakshasa. It's kind of like a fiendish wart-hog. ;)

It's actually in Expert D&D as a "Devil Swine". Gord fights the Greater Rakshasa in "Artifact of Evil", the second of the series, and actually is killed by it... :)

Cheers!

D&D Miniatures retail for $9.99 for 8, although the price is increasing to $12.99 for 8 in the near future; the Huge packs will retail for $19.99 each.

Cheers!
Note, you can get Giants of Legend for about 13-14 bucks at Amazon.com in the US, last time I checked. That's with a discount.

I suppose that doesn't help you though, Merric.

I thought Gold Dragons were basically chinese dragons. IE, ones without wings.

They gained wings in 3E. :)

It's one of those reconceptulisations that I really, really like - partly because the picture of the Gold Dragon in the MM is so good, and partly because the Huge miniature looks even better.

Mostly, however, it's because it puts the Gold Dragon back in the occidental tradition of dragons. There are Chinese Dragons in the game (or at least, there have been... I don't have OA), and the Gold Dragon is somewhat out of place.

Cheers!
