Way too many character pawns for my liking.

Remember, though, that most of the character-types are probably going to end up as rares. As long as the monster-types are commons and uncommons, most packs you buy will have a bunch of monsters and one or two characters.

At least, I hope that's how the rarity works out. AFAIK, they haven't released the rarity for the individual figures. If the PC types are rares and the orcs, goblins, lizard folk, et al made commons, it should work out nicely.

Having played the game at GenCon, I'm pretty eager to pick it up when it comes out. I had fun in the demo, and with MageKnight Dungeons 3-D recently hitting the shelves I'm already working out rules for dungeon battles.

note that we've only seen slightly over half of the figs in the initial set, and the galleries we have been shown so far have been slanted in the "PC-able" direction.

for me though, i don't mind it. i tend to use more NPC encounters than monster encounters when in DM.

Remember, it's 4 Commons, 3 Uncommons, and 1 Rare per Booster Pack. So if the PC's are Rare, then you'll only see 1 in a Booster pack, whereas you'll see at least 4 Orcs, Kobolds, and other common monsters like that.

BTW: Merric, is that list just miniatures that've been shown on the D&D site, or which've also appeared on Gaming Report and Fantization?

Edit: Yeah, it must be. I don't see that Human Executioner we saw in the Gaming Report pics, or the Umber Hulk, or anything else of that sort.

Just the list of figures in the Wizards' Galleries.

I expect that they have their official names there. :)

There are lists somewhere or other of the guesses of what's in the set, but I'm only listing the official gallery for now.

There are 27 rare figures, 33 uncommon figures and 20 common figures.

By the rarity distribution we know about, kobolds, orcs, goblins, generic human warriors, etc. will be common.

Cheers!

Also

Assuming the game only lasts a year (and my guess is at least 2 years support as so much of this cost is up front), we'll see at least 260-500 models!

With 80 minis in the Harbinger expansion to start with and 60 more in every expansion after that (3 each year)
