I prefer buying set figures. I enjoy painting and how it relaxes me. Now with two jobs, I can't paint. So I tried them. Don't shot me...Wizkids Heroclix are better done. Sorry.

The paint is sloppy and figures have the bends. The Harbinger series had little I didn't already have a figure for. So now comes the next series...has stuff I don't own.

We'll see. I'll leave it this way, Heroclix I buy by the case. These figures I'll buy...if I have money not already going top a DnD book.

Speaking of miniatures, does anyone know where i can find a good, Giant Spider Mini?? I have never seen one.

I'm basically using a bunch of plastic spiders that went with some fake webbing used for Halloween decorations. It works well enough.

I am surprised at how much I do like them. I was floored to actually get a Half-Orc Monk figure (not that it's rare or anything - I didn't know they made one and one of my players had just decided to play one!). A quick repaint to his monastic order's colours and presto! Perfect figure! I am glad they are easy to re-paint however as many of the paint jobs (especially for the realyl small figures like Halflings and Gnomes) are poor. I notice the rare miniatures get the best paint jobs (many of these are excellent like the Blackguard and Umber Hulk) while Uncommon and Common tend to suffer. I have always bought minis for the poses and 'dynamic' of the mini - I can always repaint it if I want :)

I generally didn't like the old metal minis WotC put out for D&D. It was kind of a style issue. I prefer Reaper minis myself. They rock.

I haven't personally seen these minis. But from I'm reading here, they basically applied a M:tG marketing strategy to the minis. Sounds like you get a box that has a bunch of cheaply made plastic minis that are randomly sorted. I suppose they might have a use for my game. I probably wouldn't buy it for PC minis, or stuff like the BBEG, but I they sound useful for cannon fodder. Who cares if they're pained crappy? I never waste time on details for cannon fodder. And of course, the possibility of getting a mini for a unique sort of D&D monster I wouldn't be able to get elsewhere is sort of a plus.

I'm not really thrilled at the prospect of mini rarity. One reason I turned my back on CCGs (Collectible Crack for Gamers :) ) was the totally horrible distribution. You'd buy hundreds of booster to get one copy of an overhyped rare card and end up with 20 or 30 copies of a really crappy card that totally sucked. They were a huge waste of money. Maybe that's not as big a problem here, since 30 goblin or kobold minis can be somewhat useful in a game. Also if the sets aren't quite as big as some CCG sets, people won't need to buy so much crap (though I'm sure WotC's marketing department would disagree, profit margins and all that). I would also be irritated if comic shops and the like marked up rare minis to like $100 each or some crap, like they did with Magic cards. No plastic mini is worth that much, hell, none would be worth even $20 (IMO).

There are 27 different rares in Harbinger, you get 1 per booster.

There are 20 different rares in the later sets, you get 1 per booster.

As far as rarity goes, this set is excellent for players.

Cheers!

Well, trade to Australia!!! ;)

This is starting to seem like the best option given the lack of traders in Singapore, and the shipping costs from the US. If you know any good sites, I'd be grateful if you could post them in this thread. Thanks in advance!

Yes, they are cheap - which is why I fail to understand the people who complain about the price - they are DIRT CHEAP. You can buy them like popcorn. What's the problem?

I would be interested in something that costs a bit more, but is better quality. Which is why I've decided that while this the product is clearly not for me, I'm going to give it a thumbs down. If the product was different, I'd be interested. There may be a middle ground between the dirt cheap and the do it yourself minis. If they can find that middle ground, and drop the random packaging, I'd be all over this like Baklava! Cause everyone loves Baklava!

I'd think that'd be a "thumbs sideways" - you are not the market for the product. Or are you saying that you ARE the market, but it still didn't meet your needs? If that is the case, Wizards wants to hear from you...

they have heard from me in this regard.

with each box of Harbinger expansion (8figures) you get 1 customer survey. with 50 boxes you get 50 surveys. and the postage is included.

i returned all my customer survey cards. ;)

so anyone at WotC. diaglo is me. i am diaglo. etc... the same one here, there, and pretty much everywhere on the net.

Those numbers sound pretty good. If I had the money, and I were playing more table-top games (my games atm are all online), I'd probably be interested. I like minis, and I do prefer to use them when available.
