I am so excited about the collectable minis that WOTC is putting out for D&D. It is going to save me a lot of time and effort then looking for models to represent monsters and players. I don't think I will use them for the the actual mini game. what are your opinions on these? I think they look good for plastic.

I think they look very good.

I bought some Chainmail miniatures yesterday (I wanted an ogre), and though I've glued them together, I've no idea when I'll get around to painting them. :(

Very much looking forward to the new ones - especially given their price and range!

Cheers!

Yes, since they are totally random, I can't just go and buy the 5 orcs I need for this weeks game. I have to buy random packs and hope I get a couple of orcs. I hate the fact that they will be random. I play RPG's, not collectible mim games, I should be able to buy what I need, and not end up hoping I get what I need and have a bunch of stuff I'm not going to use.

Just wait a bit after they go on sale and I'm sure you'll find plenty of miniatures on the secondary market, as people try to sell the ones they don't want (as I saw happening with Mage Knight). You'll have little problem finding what you want, I warrant.

Except, of course, I suspect things like orcs and skeletons and other common monsters will be in high demand. I mean, heck... I could do with a hoard of a few monsters.

I'm still against the idea of random distribution. I'd much rather buy a box of stuff I know I want than a box of stuff that for all I know I don't want any of.

I know I've said it before, but I hate the random packing. I think that's the one aspect that's ultimately going to kill this line. I can't spend a fortune buying booster after booster hoping I get what I need.

The secondary market won't help me because the prices will be higher that way.

Cardboard/paper counters still work best for me, or simple marks on my battlemat! Heck, for that matter pennies are just fine, especially if I paint them differing colors. :D

Boy, I hope you never see one of those machines that rolls a penny flat and stamps it with the logo of someplace... They have 'em all over anymore, at big tourist traps and stuff.
