Interesting re: Iceland. It says they filmed "recently", which means it's going to definitely be ice & snow stuff, rather than green-but-rugged stuff.

That does lend some credence to a possible Icewind Dale movie. Honestly it wouldn't be a bad idea. Though given they were doing little enough that they didn't even need to send the actual actors, just stand-ins, one suspects it might merely be part of the movie rather than a focus.

One line in the Iceland article stands out to me:
None of the actors traveled to Iceland for the scenes, since Icelandic stand-ins were used in their place.

So a question for those familiar with film production:

What might this mean? What parts of a movie would be filmed with stand-ins rather than the actors themselves?

Wide aerial shots showing off the landscape. So your 4-5 main characters (the adventuring party) trudging through a vast snowy plain, or entering an enormous icy cavern, or approaching a ruined castle. It doesn't matter who the actors are at 500 feet.
