Nice find! We've been mainstream forever. Everyone knows about Dungeons & Dragons, even if they don't know what it really is.

And yet Magic: the Gathering, which is Hasbro's top-grossing brand, beating out Monopoly, My Little Pony, and Transformers, let alone D&D, has virtually no recognition outside the hobby.

Wizbro is clearly trying to take advantage -- it remains to be seen if they can. Personally, I was expecting a media blitz on Tuesday that has yet to materialize.

I should've added that I saw this on the front page, right along with unrest in the Middle East and the latest tech gadgets. Someone there thinks it's important news. :)

You've just accused a major news group of accepting bribes for stories. Do you have any evidence to support this claim?

I'd wouldn't lash out too wildly, or waste too much umbrage on behalf of the news media.

It's not taking bribes! It's "native advertising" and it's pretty common nowadays.

I don't see any "paid advertisement" fine print on first glance, but it is a bit suspect. Anything with tech or "gadget" keywords I'm a little wary of.

It does not have the legally-required indicator of paid advertisement. This was an accusation of bribery. I want to see some evidence of that. If there is no evidence (and what you linked to is not - I like and watch that show too, and he's not talking about this, he's talking about very small fine print showing it's an ad, and this review does not have that), let's see it. If there is no evidence, then I think it says a lot.

If anything, I think your claim ("there's an article about a new/upcoming game, and it couldn't possibly be an advertisement paid for by the game's publisher") is more extraordinary than mine.
