But seriously...elves are a great concept, but it's been done poorly so many times that I've gotten sick of them. I would have voted for dwarves for the same reasons, but they've actually been portrayed fairly well rules-wise. I also would have voted for halflings, but...well, elves were more glaringly unpleasent in my eyes...

And humans...well, it might as well be flying, blue goat-men or sentient clouds of glowing gas if there weren't any humans around. Humans are the always-present feature that tie any setting, sci-fi or fantasy, to the player/reader/viewer and make it interesting. Everything else from our world is just 'icing on the supension-of-disbelief-cake'.

Tough Choice

I don't like Halflings (neither fat, hairy-feet versions nor gypsy versions) but I voted Elves off the island because at least a Halfling Wizard get +1 AC (which non-armor wearing characters need) and a Halfling Wizard doesn't get -1 HP per level (Wizard's need all the HP they can get).

Elves may get Wizard as their favored class but Halflings just make better Wizards. If you aren't even a good choice for your favored class you should get off the island (I mean you, Mr. Elf).

I voted elf. Even though they should be cool I find them less interesting than either Dwarves or the short guys.

But all the ones I really dislike are already gone.
