D&D Rules Compendium (Hardcover) - October 2007

This COULD be a D&D's greatest hits collection: stuff from various books (culled away) to make one book.

Here is my thought: It won't contain anything much from 2006 releases. Don't expect those PH2 feats to be reprinted.

What could it have?

* Goliath, Illumain, Raptoran races
* Warlock, hexblade, scout, swashbuckler, marshal, healer, favored soul, & warmage from the complete lines.
* Some of the best feats from the races/complete lines (barring unique ones specific for things not appearing in this book, like Killoran feats, etc)
* Shipfaring rules from Stormwrack
* Waste and Frostfell rules from Sandstorm/Frostburn
* How to design a City from DMG Web Enhancement
* Enough spells/invocations to make the classes above viable. Swift and Immediate Actions explained.
* Fear and Dread from Heroes of Horror
* Contacts from the DMG2
* Affiliations from PH2
* Full Errata
*

It could also have a partridge in a pear tree, but I bet it won't. ;)

I think WotC is unlikely to gut the most popular elements from currently published books and put them all in one volume. And since when are Illumians a greatest hit? :confused:

No idea what's in it, but D&D Rules Compendium is a lame title
Agreed. Lame title. I predict WOTC will sell thousands upon thousands of these however - no matter what the title, or in fact the content.

Sounds nice, but personally, I'd tighten it a bit: Leave out the races - most players already concentrate on the core races, no need for further muddling... just stick more races into the MMs.

I was recently thinking about I'd like WOTC to collect rules from several books, because several WOTC books have some content that I'd like to have, but I don't consider there to be enough worthwhile content in each individual book to make it worth purchasing (UA and, possibly phb2 being the exceptions).

Race
* Half-Ogre (Savage Species)
*Thri-Kreen (Savage Species)
*Environmental Race variants (UA)

Classes
*Healer (miniatures handbook): with stupid unicorn removed and given spontaneous casting
*Noble (Dragonlance)
*OA Samurai (Oriental Adventures): perhaps with variant to remove Ancesrial Daishio and made into more generic noble warrior/knight
*OA Shaman (Oriental Adventures):

Class Variant Abilities
*Cleric: spontaneous Domain casting (UA, PHB2)
*Druid: Shapechange (PHB2)
*Fighter: variant abilities (PHB2)
*Favored Terrain (UA)
*Specialist Variant Wizard Abilities (UA)

Class Variants (UA) since many people at the WOTC boards do not seem familiar with them
* Barbarian Hunter
* Bard variants
* cleric champion of good
* Cloistered Cleric
* Fighter Thug
* Monk fighting Styles
* Urban Ranger
* Martial Rogue
* Wilderness Rogue
* Battle Sorcerer

Environment class variants (Frostburn and Sandstorm)

Skills
*Expanded Skills (Complete adventurer)
*Expanded Wild Skills (Races of the Wild)

Feats
*Divine Feats (Complete Divine and Complete Warrior)
*Reserve Feats (Complete Mage)
*Tactical Feats (Complete Warrior and PHB2)
*Weapon Style Feats (Complete Warrior )

Equipment: (Complete Warrior and Arms & Equipment Guide)
*Armor from previous editions not in PHB (e.g., Brigandine and Ring)
*Weapons from previous editions not in PHB (e.g., Bola, Boomerang, Cutlass and Maul)

Action Points (UA)

Magic
*Incantations (UA)
*New Domains (Complete Warrior and Complete Divine)

Grafts and Symbiotes
Touchstones (DMG2)

Affiliations (PH2)
Contacts (DMG2, UA)
Reputation (UA)
Taint
Waste and Frostfell rules
Shipfaring rules (Stormwrack)
How to design a City (DMG Web Enhancement)
Organization building (Complete Adventurerer)

Other things from Unearthed Arcana I'd like to see included, but I understand why they would not be appropriate:
*weapon groups
*Spontaneous Divine casting
*Spell Point w/Vitaization
