D&D Soundtrack

For Fantasy - Anvil of Crom, and Riddle of Steel/Riders of Doom by Basil Poledouris from the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack work really well for me, as does Barbarian Horde from Gladiator. I also like the Icewind Dale soundtrack mentioned above.

For modern games - depending on genre, of course, but for a Spycraft/D20 Modern game with high action, I like the Matrix and Matrix Reloaded soundtracks. Rob Dougan's "Clubbed to Death" and "Furious Angels" and Paul Oakenfeld's "Dread Rock" all work for combat scenes, while mellower stuff like The Crystal Method or Mogwai can work well for heavy character oriented scenes.

I wonder if there would be any interest in mixing what people thought were good soundtracks for their games and then posting the song lists here (since exchanging tracks is piracy and all) for others to look at?

A friend of mine has had the D&D Soundtrack for a while now. I think a couple of weeks. It sounds pretty good, but it ain't no Mike Oldfield (or Mike Patton) and I still have Music Choice on digital cable, so I might pass on it for a little while, until after I buy Midnight. If you're into the ambient music scene, it's definitely worth a check out.

Cheers!

I listened to the previews on the front page... just pop in your old Warcraft II cd, it's probably better. :D War3 music is good, but more ambient.... though the stuff from the expansion (frozen throne) is much better. :)
