D&D Soundtrack

One day I'll start using music properly in my games. Once day one of my players turned up with two small speakers and his cd player and we used the Spybreak song for combat music for a particularly athletic battle :) but beyond that I've never really used music.

Doesn't anyone find it rather... well... distracting to have music playing when they're trying to game?

I think it's distracting to be a DJ and a DM at the same time. However, I like music during my sessions. I don't worry too much about the appropriateness of a particular track and a particular moment matching up well, though, and I keep the volume down to the point where music is definately in the background.

I picked it up at Gencon too. It's not bad. I think many of the songs are pretty repetitive, but it does make good background music.

How does the Warcraft III soundtrack compare to the WCII stuff? WCII music was da bomb.

I may be biased but I think the War III soundtrack rocks like the preverbal hurricane.

The Diablo II soundtrack is also good.

I wasn't too hot on the Starcraft CD, it's all music "inspired by" instead of being an actual soundtrack.

When I played a game with my friend he put some music on, it was so much in the background I didn't consiously take note of it.

I'd love to have the BGII soundtrack though.
