D&D Stage II: core rulebooks + accessories (Slides from GAMA)

Does that seem, disturbing, to anyone else?

A little, but probably not for the reasons you think. Those fans of certain d20 publishers (no names...) that I would call evangelists push me away from their products, not towards it.

But perhaps a better way to put it (which might be more accurate considering the "methods" mentioned) would be "Help players introduce new players to the game."

You mean you're not a brand evangelist? I know I am.

Nope, not even close.

I like rpgs, in general. I like the 3e core rules; haven't bought into 3.5 and probably won't. I don't use any of the base campaigns. So, no, I am not a "brand evangelist" and I am very happy to stay that way.

Same goes for clothing labels, car companies, etc.

I have almost no brand loyalty, and I am happy to stay that way ;)

So, you don't even try to introduce new players to the game?

That's what being an evangelist is about: introducing new players to the game, because you find it fun, and you think they'll enjoy it as well. One could also say "missionary", but that's an even more negative term, IMO. :)

Of course, Wizards would be happier if you introduced people to their games. (I certainly have done so, over the last ten years. ;))

Cheers!

Here now begins the reading from the Book of Gygax:

...it was then than Gygax descended from the heavens with a box containing the Three Booklets, and it declared that It Was Good. And the people did rejoice, and declared that It Was Good, and so it was.

And then the one named Diaglo saw the light of the Three Booklets and declared that They Were Good, and that evermore they would be the One True Game...

Cheers!

Merrick, please don't use color tags - when anyone switches to Stealth or PHB your post becomes illegible. Forunately the Quick Style chooser makes this less of a problem than it used to be, but be aware that not everyone uses a style that employs light text on a dark field.

That better, Michael?

Heretic! You've left out the lost passages from the Arneson Sea Scrolls! It was Arneson who really lead the way for the One True Game to be created! ;)
