D&D Starter Set: Any reviews?

Getting lost in fantasy maps
I've been avidly waiting for a D&D 4e Basic set since 4e was announced. I have wanted something I could use to introduce my young son to the game that has been my hobby for decades now. Both of the 3e Basic Sets were major disappointments in living up to the old Basic set.

Well, the D&D Starter Set is being released this month. Are there any reviews of this anywhere?

I'm also pretty curious about this product! A solid D&D "Starter Set"/"Basic" version could go a long way towards recruiting new players to the hobby, like it once did in days long gone. Unfortunately, as the OP mentioned, the Basic sets that came during 3E were both pretty weak.

Here's hoping this newest starter set breaks the pattern!

I haven't seen it, but for $11 (on Amazon) I don't see how you can miss.

Yeah, that's amazingly cheap for all this-

* A 16-page Quick Start Rules booklet
* A 64-page Dungeon Master's Book
* 3 sheets of double-sided Dungeon Tiles
* 50 tokens, to represent characters and monsters
* And of course, a set of 6-dice

I'm not a fan of 4e, but I'm a sucker for basic sets. :p

I've finally gotten around to ordering it. I'll let you know in a few days what I think; I'm also a sucker for basic sets. :)

Cheers!

Nice! If you do get around to reviewing it, a comparison with previous Basic sets would be nice, as well as a critique of its "replayability" would be appreciated. :)
