Where are the elves?

Watching all the episodes back to back, I suddenly realized I didn't remember any elves.

We have Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings, Orcs, Goblins, Bullywugs, Giants, Bog Beasts, More Bullywugs, Salamnders, Lizardmen, even more Bullywugs, Care,...sorry Cloud Bears, Faerie Dragons, Shambing Mounds, Shadow Demon* and did I mention the Bullywugs?

So why no elves? Considering how many of these creatures came from the original Fiend Folio, I'm surprised we don't see any Drow, especially back when they were still mysterious.

I don't know why there were no elves, but as for drow, I'm not surprised. This was the heyday of "D&D is evil!!!!one!!eleven!!" hysteria. The idea of putting in a race of dark-skinned humanoids who are all evil would never have gotten off the design table.

Yeah some how I don't see having drow on that 80s cartoon would have helped matters much.

Bad enough they had Skeleton warriors I mean.

*wonders idly if they'd ever consider using a Death Knight*

Btw there's some nice stats on the Creature Catalog site for good ole Demo-dragon! :)

Maybe Gary will step in here to answer. Although, as someone who was the age of cartoons when the cartoon was on the air (and yes I own it on DVD today). I think the biggest reason for no elves is that they would have been hard to tell from humans visually. Visually there are not a great number of differences between elves and humans and if you notice in the cartoon all the races used are races with a huge visual difference between one another becuase it was designed for young children.

Were there halflings??? Can't remember any.

And you might say Lolth would count as an elf, since she isn't drow-skinned in that episode.

Erhm no. It just couldn't seem to resolve the plot or at least get us a new group of kids to take the place of the old ones.

That is my opinion of course.

I thought he was a dwarf. But then it's not like they made sure we'd know the difference.
Halflings back then had furry feet. Unless he had furry feet, he was a dwarf or a gnome.
