D20 cyberpunk/fuuristic settings!

I thumbed through a book today called Factory by Perpetrated Press. It has rules and equipment for a futuristic game that can easily be integrated into d20Modern or even D&D. It has "cybernetic" equipment. I can't say much more about it since I just browsed through it.

Several weeks ago I ran a Shadowrun game using Spycraft, d20Modern and some basic house rules. The players had a blast. Cybernetics are easy to integrate into d20 by just treating them as "magic items". They either give a bonus to a skill, raise an attribute or give a bonus to a specific game mechanic.

:) I have before (and attempted to this time around, if the boards wouldn't eat my posts...) I just try to avoid the whole "d20 vs. everything else" debate (especially futile considering this particular messageboard).

I noticed above that I didn't include the example: a far better system for the futuristic genre in my mind is FUZION. I think the whole class-based system, as opposed to a skill-based one, makes d20 ill-suited to the futuristic genre (for many reasons).

There, I think that was quick enough to get this posted...
Hmmm, I'll have to look that system up. Frankly, I don't think d20 is the ultimate system, but I understand it well, I like it well enough, I can tinker with it to get what I want, and I can relatively easily find players for it, so I doubt I'll feel much incentive to move. But, like I said, I don't think the system is perfect -- I'll have a look into FUZION. Thanks for the tip.

I played a few adventures in a D20M campaign where the PCs advanced differently. When a level was gained, you got your normal skill points, action points, etc but hit points and the like didn't go up.

We didn't have time to really iron the system out before the DM went away, but it is an idea. Combine that with the cyber from CyberStyle (but not the rest of that junk) and you'd have an okay system (maybe)

The problem with FUZION is that very little support on the product. Plus R.Talsorian is so late on there products gamers are looking towards others systems. I mean come on, CYBERPUNK V3 was supposed to be out 2 years ago, back pushed back for this year and now it not be never. Im sorry but company like taht is lossing its fans.

[OGL] Action!

Oh, I forgot. You want someone to think up the cyber rules for you. Yeah. ;)

I'm sure one of the publishers mentioned on that web site may provide such a thing for the Action! System.

Unofficially, you can pretty much adapt Fuzion plug-ins found on various fan sites into Action!.

Like this web site, for example (see Atomik CyberTek):

(Yes, I did it ... for you. :p )

LoL! Now *that* I agree with - R.Tal. has been quite slow with Cyberpunk V3 (supposedly using FUZION). Indeed, the death knell is sounding for them, unfortunately.

As to support, though, you're dead wrong. The support for FUZION is pretty amazing for such a small-press game, and covers a *huge* variety of technology and sub-genres within the futurisic genre.
Published:
Bubblegum Crisis
Bubblegum Crisis Before and After
Bubblegum Crisis EX
Armored Trooper VOTOMS

Web:
Atomik Fuzion - full rules for chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons; advance vehicle rules, more.
Christian Conkle's FUZION site - adapt Cyberpunk to FUZION, cybernetics, hacking.
Aliens FUZION - the entire Aliens saga complete FUZION stats (weapons, vehicles, xenomorphs).

These are all great resources, and what helps a bit for these rules is that most of it is *free*, including the main rules.

Action! is okay, but gets the big "meh" from me, so far. *That's* something that has no support, when loads of stuff for FUZION has been done already. Why convert when you don't need to?
