Anyone have the D20 Expert Player's Guide: Epic Monsters by Mongoose? I'm looking for a good Epic level Monster book and wonder if this fits the bill. :D

I can't answer the question directly, since I don't have that book, but what I can do is tell you that Mongoose has just released another book that definitely fits the bill. They're now selling the Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary Volume I in a print version, through their Flaming Cobra imprint.

If you want an Epic monster book, you really can't do better than this in the current marketplace IMO.

I was underwhelemed by "Epic Monster" actually. Half of the book were reprints of the epic monsters in the SRD. Others were brand new, of course, and those I could use. A few were "easter eggs" such as Lord of Chaos and Lord of the Insane being totally based off of Slaad Lords.

Its good for what it is.

A Hardcover for 20 Bucks that Brings together various OGL & SRD Monsters & some Misc Epic Level Bits (Feats from the SRD ELH Mainly).

If you like to be able to have your players pass around a Copy of the ELH while you can bookmark various Monsters without your players knowing.

I have it, I run an Epic Game once a month or so.

Its held up pretty well.

At 20 Bucks it's worth the price.

If you can get it at any sort of discount, go for it.

Check out my review of Epic Monsters here.

In general, the book does an acceptable job, basically lumping together a surprisingly large collection of monsters from several different sources. The 3.5 updates to several 3.0 monsters aren't too bad, and the appendix of unique epic creatures seems somewhat arbitrary (since several unique epic creatures are mixed in with the main entries too), but ultimately the book feels like exactly what it is - a mishmashed compilation of monsters from various sources (and focusing pretty strongly on CR 21-30, though it has a decent number that are CR 31-40).

That said, I want to echo what Paradox said about the Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary Volume I (which I also reviewed). The book goes far, FAR beyond merely CR 30, and it has a cohesive and extremely well-done feel to the monsters in it. It has incredible supplementary rules, is overflowing with new crunch (epic magic items, epic spells, and more) and nearly every monsters has adventure seeds and tactics. It's an incredible book, and I heartily recommend it.

The Immortals Handbook Epic Bestiary is an excellent book. When Epic Monsters was in compilation it became clear the the IHEB was going to be released through Flaming Cobra so it was decided to leave that material out of the Epic Monsters.
