d20 Future Campaign Setting

I wanted to throw this out for you guys to comment on. I have seen a few discussions on future settings and wanted to ask how much interest would there be in a published campaign setting for Future.

Depends on the premise of the setting.

For instance... There's already Prometheus Rising, which is set all in this solar system.

Rocketship Empires is on its way, apparently, and I certainly want to get that.

There's another called Dawning Star on its way.

These are all totally different settings, so I'd say the interest is out there. But it still depends on the premise.

I'd have to agree with Baize on this one.

Depends on the premise of the setting.

I know there are a good number of smaller publishers out there trying to get the finishing touches done on their future setting, but besides the ones that Baize listed, I can't think of any other ones that has tossed up much in the way of information - including me.

d20 Future is shallow enough to allow for a lot of 3rd party expasion. A setting that also adds depths to some of the rules would do a lot better than one lacking any "crunch" I think.

I am personally creating (extremely slowly though) a setting for d20 Future. I will say this: as long as you create just a stellar system that could be easily added to a galactic setting, people with different games could easily pick it up.

In my own setting I describe a stellar system and its planets. What is said about the Solar System is vague enough so to be totally compatible with Prometheus Rising or Transhuman Space.

We are to the point now that we are looking for a publisher and also about to put out an open call for playtesters so be looking for that announcment if you want a chance at that.

I just wanted to add my two cents. But agree with the others. A flexible setting is needed, but it has to be unique in its own way.

I think if a setting is well-desgined, well-playtested, and most of all edited it can be a success.

A lot of people want other settings, look at the D20 market. It is flooded with settings. Why put out a book and no setting? The market is perfect for a independent company to put out a setting.

As for the playtesting. I am interested and will keep a eye out for it.

Inexpensive exciting settings definitely have a place in my bookshelf. Warlord Ralt's setting, for example, has me dying to play (although finding DMs online is difficult).

So yes - I think there's interest :)

Send me an email @ SleepDepCreations@gmail.com if you want. I may be able to help you out with both publishing and playtesters.

Thanks,

I work with Brian on the project he is talking about. I mostly do rule design and concept work.

My question is do you think there is anything missing from the future book you would like to see done?
