My kids have begged me for a 'I, Robot' type game, so I'm busily building some NS-5's and others.

Anyone have any cool robots they want to post?

Edit: I posted the quicky mini-adventure below. Fun run.

Hmmm.....Have you ever heard of Perpetrated Press? They've got some cool books on magitech, called Arsenal and Factory. Factory's got info on robots that I've found pleasant and useful.

For my robots, I usually use warforged with class levels and different descriptions :)

D20 Future has a thick chapter on bots, including rules for making them into effective PCs. You can also search the net for 3.5 compliant conversions of the Sheens...

Robot Serial Number Explanation (LR7-35-0132-G):
Item #1(LR7)
: Indicates manufacturer and progress level the robot was created for. In this case the manufacturer is Lanning Robotics, and the progress level that the robot is intended for is PL 7.
Item #2 (35): Indicates the frame type, and size of the robot. In this case the robot is Medium size with a Biodroid frame.
Item #3 (0132): The first two digits indicate the number of hit dice that the robot has, and the second two digits indicate its Purchase DC. This robot has 1 HD, and a Purchase DC of 32.
Item #4 (G): The last part of the serial number is used to distinguish between robots that may have the first three parts of the serial number match. The “G” in this case is the Guardian Series Enforcement Droid.

Michael Tresca has done some d20 Modern freebie that are worth looking at. In any case they contain plenty of robots stat-blocks: http://michael.tresca.net/ (Go to the "Freebie" section, then download The Matrix: Only Human and Terminator: Future Fate.) This should help a lot. :)

Funny! I didn't realize he had a Matrix one. I used the Synthetics from his Aliens PDF because I was pressed for time. I'll have to check out Matrix.

Game went well. I'll post details.

Here's a base NS-5:

NS-5 - 1st Level Dedicated Ordinary (biodroid - human) (CR - 1/2) (PL6)

STR 18 (STR upgrade +6)
DEX 18 (DEX upgrade +4)
CON -
INT 13
WIS 10
CHA 5

AC: 21 (+2 Dex, +8 Duralloy Armor, +1 Class Bonus)
HP: 16

Saves: +1 FORT, +4 REF, +1 Will

Speed: 50 ft. (30ft - human, -10 armor, +30 speed upgrade) / 20 ft. Climb (ferrous surfaces - magnetic feet)

Attacks: +4 melee (manipulator - natural 1d3+4 non-lethal slam damage)
Full Attack: +4/-1 (manipulators - natural 1d3+4 / 1d3+2 non-lethal slam damage)

Skills: (20)
Craft +5 (+1 INT, +4 ranks one craft skill or Treat Injury), Knowledge +5 / +3 / +3 (+1 INT, +4 - 1 main knowledge skill, +2 2-secondary knowledge skills), Listen +2 (Wis, +2 Equipment), Profession +4 (Wis, +4 Ranks - Servant), Read/Write Language (English), Sense Motive +4 (Wis +4 Ranks), Speak Language (Native Language), Spot +2 (Wis, +2 Equipment), Treat Injury +4 (Wis, +4 Ranks if no Craft skill taken).

Feats: (none at 1st level)

Talents: (none - ordinary)

Special Abilities:

Immunities: Biodroids are immune to mind-influencing effects, poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, disease, necromancy effects, and any effect that requires a Fortitude save unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless. They are not subject to nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain (except as noted under Destruction/Restoration, below), energy drain, or the effects of massive damage. They cannot be raised from the dead.

Repairable: Biodroids cannot heal damage on their own but can be repaired using the Repair skill. A successful Repair check (DC 30) heals 1d10 points of damage to a biodroid, and each check represents 1 hour of work.

Equipment: Duralloy Armor (+8 Equipment, -10 feet speed), Speed Upgrade* (+30 ft.), Class IV Sensor System (+2 Listen/Spot), Strength upgrade* (+6), Dexterity Upgrade* (+4), Magnetic Feet* (Climb 20ft on ferrous surfaces), robolink (robolink is special variety that allows VIKI to take control, subverting the robot's intelligence score)

* These functions are not used until VIKI takes over, but all the super-structure and programming are there. See VIKI, below.

Viki

VIKI is the AI that can take control of the NS-5's via their robolink. VIKI is applied as a template to any NS-5 within 1000 feet of a transmitter.

Activates Strength and Dexterity upgrade, Speed upgrade, and magnetic feet.

INT Upgrade +6

Skill Progit: Jump +10, Balance +10, Tumble +10, Knowledge (tactics) +10
Feat Progit: Combat Martial Arts, Multiattack (gains up to three additional attacks per round at -2 per extra attack)

CR: +1

Not sure if this CR is accurate... Need to run it through Wulf's creature gen, but it seems accurate... No change in effective level, though the robot gets two feats and 7th level skill ranks in four skills. Not sure whether I like the latent STR, DEX and Move upgrades, thus I added them to the character and put the note. The potential's there, it's just that VIKI makes full use of them.
