d20 Modern - and what else?

Actually, I'll second the Shaman's endorsement of Martial Arts Mayhem, and for the same reasons. I liked Blood and Fists too, but preferred MAM's approach -- it seemed to fit better (for me!) in a game with different types of characters who had martial arts as part of their skillset, rather than a game where martial arts is the focus of what the characters do/are.

So, after getting myself d20 Modern, what other books should I get myself? What do you recommend, and why?
I say Menace Manual, for it not only has monsters, but also pregenerated NPCs (and when you know how long and tedious it is to prepare NPCs in d20 Modern, you will be glad to have this book).

Don't take d20past's detractors too seriously. The book takes a lot more flak for not being what customer X wants from a past suplement, or for wizards decision to switch to the 96 page softcover format than it does for actually being a bad book. Past is good if you're interested in what it has to say.

Finally, WotC should recall d20 Past and re-issue it when they get it right.

As far as my own feelings about the book, I agree that it did not provide much of what I hoped to see - as for the second part, there's a lot of ground that can be covered in ninety-six pages, so I wasn't overly concerned about page count.

Putting both of those issues aside, d20 Past is still a bad book - silly errors, half-arsed stats, unbalanced classes, hack-and-paste jobs of rules that don't mesh with the Modern system.

Thanx guys, I really have to look into this stuff. Special thanks also to d_sinclair, who will find that I'm taking him up on his offer... :)

Infernal Teddy, what is your first name? It seems that several dishonest forum members have decided to attempt to take up the offer extended to you as well, and I want to make absolutely sure I'm answering the right request. First names are the only common feature to all the emails we received.

[EDIT] Never mind, I found what I needed through your blog site. Still not happy there are apparently such dishonest people on enworld.

I will give another thanks to D_Sinclair, what a great way to intice a new Modern customer. Sorry to hear you had some people try to take advantage of your generousity. :(

D_Sinclair,

I think you would have likely had the same thing happen no matter what site you posted that offer to a specific poster. It's shame there are so many dishonest people, but I doubt that ENWorld has any more than any other site.

Hi again! Thanx once again for the .pdf, I just picked it up. Looks very good so far. I'll try and get a review up soon. Sorry to hear you had problems with such... ah... "creative customers".
