d20 Modern Busted Already?

Anyway the idea that two guys can punch each other and not cause some kind of damage is dumb - its actually quite easy to break a bone (which IS HP damage) -at school we use to play 'Pile-ons' (20 kids jumping on top of each other and yes bones got broken) and a kick to the bollocks should be enough to knock any guy prone and balling

Right. Breaking a bone is lethal damage... IE, you take the -4 penalty to do it.

In one case the one knocked out professed to being a martial artist (that was funny - and I suppose we could argue a Barbarian Rage effect since my cousin (doing the punching) got mad when the otherone kicked him)

Speaking from experience, just because someone says they're a martial artist or have studied the martial arts does not mean they know how to fight.

edit: sorry it's on page four of the thread, I hadn't seen it

but I find this rule strange, I've done 6 month of french boxing, and when someone kicked me in the head I was all dizzy for a few minutes, and the guy wasn't a professional either, and tried to not hit too hard. This wasn't lethal damage, but it would have been easy to put me unconscious in a few hit.

Although I was skeptical and reluctant, preferring to the VP/WP health system, I am open to the not-so-overkill HP health system that is spawned from Wizards' Call of Cthulhu d20 RPG.

I have yet to see if VP/WP health system will become Open Game Content, as I am sure the third-party publishers may want to use that for their own d20 Modern game product instead of the modified HP system.

Before Gen Con, it was front page news on ENWorld, WotC plans to make it SRD. So unless they change their minds, it is a matter of when, not if.

I know that Charles Ryan said something about what he overheard in the offices of Wizards' Seattle HQ. And it is somewhat confirmed when he announced that his new edition of Ultramodern Firearms will have damage stats for both HP and VP/WP health systems.

I guess the waiting will come to an end since most of us wanted that health system made OGC since last year along with some of the rules material extracted from the Star Wars rulebook (san trademarks and other Lucasfilm IPs).

Until November...

Look, we got until November to give them reasons regarding unarmed combat rules with a bunch of fellows who have no experience in brawling, and those that do (but still a one level of proficiency below that of martial arts).

Um... Not really. It's *out* in November. It will have been in distribution for a while before that, printing before that, and layout/editing before that. I don't think the content is really "open to discussinon" at this point. I think we are being told how the book will work...
