d20 Modern Dark*Matter hardcover from WotC?!?

Since I left off supporting TSR after the last Spelljammer products were produced and didn't come back until after 3e, I missed out on the original Alternity line.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing what the fuss was about.

On another note, isn't this the first book Monte Cook has worked on for Wizards since he started Malhavoc? Clearly, they want him back to work on 4e with Mearls.

Book of Vile Darkness and Call of Cthulhu are both after. He also continued to do adventures for the website after starting Malhavoc.

Yea. Things I hope NOT to see:

* Dark Matter IS Shadow, and Dark Matter brings weird monsters from D&DLand.

* PCs start as members of "Department 7" instead of The Hoffmann Institute.

* "Mage" and "Sorceror" AdCs included

I'm sure there'll be SOME things I don't like ... but I've already told my group that the 13th of September they'll be at the table, by gunpoint if necessary, to play Dark*Matter.

I suspect there will be new spellcasting classes, eg Shaman, Diabolist, Enochian, etc. There were spellcasting NPCs. The GM doesn't have to allow PCs to cast spells, however.

That makes me depressingly uncertain about the existence of the product at all-- sparse product info with a confirmed incorrect author credit?

He may wish to contact Amazon about this, as well.

Otherwise, I was ready to become very excited. Not because I am a great fan of Dark*Matter, but because paying more attention to their Alternity IP for possible d20 Modern products means a much better chance of seeing an updated Star*Drive.
