d20 Modern for the future of a D&D setting...

Wow, it's about time someone else thought of using d20 Modern as the future of D&D settings (or at least time someone admitted it). I have always thought of d20 Modern this way, mainly because I prefer my modern campaigns to be a mix of modern and fantasy. I have tried to explain this idea to people before, but many just don't seem to comprehend it. I'm glad someone's thinking along the same lines as I am. :)

Anyways, if you're looking for a way to adapt D&D magic to Modern, there are some books out there that look at magic as an evolutionary process. Modern Magic by The Game Mechanics does this, and I am sure there are others out there.

d20 Modern Eberron

Well, it's not exactly what you were looking for, but from my personal experience, Eberron is about halfway between D&D and Modern when it comes to the world. They've got 20's or 30's level magi-tech, and with the warforged, you've got the classic 50's robots (only closer to I, Robot robots then the Jetsons'). So, just advance in much that same way, looking at tech and magic, and seeing how they interact. How about larger and faster flying galleons? Maybe advance gunpowder and magic arms to a point where you can get the caster guns of Outlaw Star.

Perpetrated Press's Arsenal book is good for this. A bunch of different mass-produced technomagical firearms. I don't have the second book, Factory yet, but I hear it's good, too. It deals with magical robots and computers and things.
