Tori moves to the open door, her hand reflexively going into her satchel for her pistol, though she keeps it out of sight, so as not to alarm anyone in the outer office or watching on cam.
'Gentlemen, shall we leave?' Tori says, exiting the room.
OoC:Spot and Listen for anything out of the ordinary. In particular, I am looking for the nervous woman from the waiting room befire, her nervousness now perhaps making a bit more sense, perhaps she had something to do with this...

Aiden jumps out of his chair, and heads towards the door with the rest of you. He gives a fearful look up at the vent, still spewing a thin amount of smoke.

The five of you spill out into the corridor, Andrew still coughing slightly. The office corridor stretches off to your left and right. Offices can be seen in both directions. The left corridor ends in a window that overlooks Westwood - 12 stories up. The right corridor goes directly to the front office where you originally sat, waiting for your appointment. In the distance, you can hear the typing of computers, someone talking on the phone - the usual sounds of a business office (OOC: Coming from down the other corridor, probably). There is no visible sign of smoke in the hall that you can see.

Down the hall, the front door opens. You would expect it to make a slamming sound as it almost rebounds against the wall, but it is silent. Even the girl from the lobby running towards your group, her eyes wide in fear and her mouth open in a soundless shriek - is completely silent.

You see movement behind her, and suddenly something literally rips open her shoulder, blood flying everywhere! She tumbles to the ground, her fall seemingly done in slow motion. Her white UCLA sweater is shredded on her right side and already soaked in blood.

All of this - as silent as the grave.

As she falls before your startled eyes, you see a thing standing behind her in the waiting room. He is tall, perhaps 6' - but thin with long gangly arms. His face can only be described as vaguely human-like. The skin is pale white, although splotches of light green cover parts of the forehead and the neck. Black stringy hair crowns a face twisted in glee and hatred. He is wearing black clothing that doesn't hide the fact his body is emaciated and slightly hunched. A belt holds a firearm in a holster and a couple of sheathed hunting knives. In his hands you can see a shotgun, pointed at the back of the girl.

Whatever he is shrieking, it appears to be a cry of triumph - but it is silent as well.

OOC: Well Tori - you've found the UCLA girl. :( Here's a rough map of the surroundings (no laughing at my poor art skills!) Actions, please?

Great!! thought Simon, Someone either is trying to kill one of us, or it's completely unrelated. Yeah, keep telling yourself that.

"I guess your next appointment doesn't like waiting. Is there another exit?" Simon asks of Aiden. He smoothly pulls his weapon from the tailored holster and fires at the creature, both arms extended in a double grip on the weapon.

If the opportunity presents itself Simon will use a move-equivalent to kick the door fully open (the one with the knife and shells).

Andrew reaches into his jacket pocket for his gun, but will take a route out rather than fire, if possible (if, for example, Aiden shows a way out, he'll leave if the others will follow). If not, he takes aim and fires (with the normal bullets).

OoC:The map looks great, in my Games on here my maps are aski symbols , though soon I will make marvelous maps Mwuahahah!!!!,er...

IC: Tori drops down to one knee, pulling forth her Pistol and firing at the abomination before her, which looks suprisingly like a...'Ghoul...'

OoC:Or so she thinks.

Whisper doesn't seem in the least bit phased. He grins and wordlessly sprints down the hall toward the creature. Barely a few feet from it, he dives forward, hand-plants, and brings his rear foot impossibly over his head, hoping to collide with the creature's weapon hand.

If this doesn't earn me a fat bonus, nothing will. 'Here you are Aiden, I saved your life.'

OOC: Whisper attempts a disarm of a ranged weapon (D20 Modern, page 152 under the subheading "Ranged Weapons") His attack bonus is +5 and his AC against the creature is 21 (25 if he uses the gun)

With surprising speed none of you thought the beautiful woman had, Tori drops to one knee and reaches inside her jacket - pulling out a black metal pistol. As she raises the gun, she expertly thumbs the safety off and squeezes the trigger at the same time.

BOOM!

The weapon makes a surprisingly loud noise in the tight hallway - it is the first loud noise you've heard despite the horror you witnessed down the hall. You hear workers in the main part of the office cry out in shock ("What the hell was that??" shouts one person). The bullet hits the creature solidly in the chest, and you see it stagger back a step. The look on its face transforms from glee to one of pain and rage. Blackish blood blossoms around the wound, though it is difficult to tell how hurt it truly is. Tori, you notice that the creature doesn't look particularly surprised by the sight of opposition. He begins to raise the shotgun to unload on your group. Despite the range, the weapon is still deadly.

But faster than he can do that, Whisper is already in motion. He crosses the distance to where the foe stands and explodes into action. Diving forward with the skill of an acrobat, he hand-plants and brings his foot impossibly over his head. His foot smacks into the creature's hand just as the shotgun is level with Whisper's chest. The shotgun slams into the ground and bounces away - all without a sound. Whisper then kips up from his position, landing on his feet. He moves with a grace and fluidity you wouldn't expect from someone who slouched so much in the meeting. But his stance shows he's a practiced and skilled hand-to-hand fighter. OOC: A non-critical 20 on the disarm, Velenne! And it's not exactly easy to disarm someone wielding a weapon two-handed, either.

The creature is not so easily defeated, however. It seems to mouth something, perhaps an insult. You can see its mouth is filled with rotted but jagged stumps. Surprisingly, it doesn't reach for the gun at its side. It lashes out with a hand - a clawed hand - and tries to rip out the front of Whisper's throat. But Whisper raises his forearm and blocks it, though you see his arm give a little. The creature is strong. The other hand loops around, and you can see as it comes for Whisper's eyes that the fingernails jut out about an inch from the black gloves it wears. Whisper jerks his head back just in time to avoid being blinded, but the creature's claw catches him in the arm. Blood splatters against the door, though it doesn't look bad. Surprisingly, the creature steps forward and opens its jaws as if to bite Whisper! But Whisper is unphased by the wound he took, and palm-strikes the creature in the nose. It looks unhurt, but it was enough to give it pause and make it miss its attack. Whisper, you take 5 pts of damage from the claw, 20 hp remaining. You also see out of the corner of your eye that the waiting room has four other creatures in it - smallish and grey skinned, wearing black clothing. They are currently pinning down the elf you saw in the waiting room earlier, and beating on him with gnarled fists. They do not seem to notice you as yet. It is eerie how quiet the waiting room is, despite the chaos.

Cool and unflappable, Simon looks to Aiden as he pulls his weapon from a shoulder sheath. "I guess your next appointment doesn't like waiting. Is there another exit?" Aiden, his eyes wide with surprise, shakes his head. "Just the front! But they're probably there too, damn it!" Simon raises his firearm and takes aim at the creature, but it is difficult to get a shot off with Whisper standing in front of it. He hesitates for a moment and moves forward a few steps. He pivots and kicks in a nearby office door. Simon, the office door was closed since you last saw it, but your kick was enough to open it. You see a case with a variety of small caliber firearms, a Mossberg shotgun, and a dozen boxes of various ammunition. It appears to be some kind of small armory.

Andrew pulls out a huge handgun and lines it up with the creature's head. The weapon looks like it could punch through a bullet-proof vest. But Whisper is giving too much cover (:)) to the creature - it's entirely possible a shot might hit your ally in the back. Andrew hesitates. To shoot, or not to shoot...?

OOC: I'd like to hear what you want to do, Sixchan. Whisper is giving some good cover to the creature, but it's still possible you might hit it. Everyone else, please post your next round actions... As of right now, only Whisper sees the other creatures. If you please - During each combat round, give me a couple possible things you might do. If X / Then Y type of things. "If the creature runs, I chase it - if not, then I shoot it." Etc. Also take into account whether you'll fire if an ally is in the way. Thanks guys!

With his next opportunity, Whisper feints to the creature's left and springs off in the other direction. He plants his heel on the wall, pushes off, spins in mid-air and with his feet pointed at the ceiling, grabs the shotgun. Completing his flip, he lands ten feet behind the creature and raises the gun, supporting it with his forearm.

With a wink, the dirty Indian discharges a payload into its back.

OOC: During an unarmed attempt to disarm, a success normally indicates the attacker comes back with the weapon. The text was purely descriptive but my intention was to come up with the weapon. This round, Whisper tumbles to 10' behind the creature (putting him in the office as a move action; +7 to the check) and fires the shotgun at the creature (+5 to-hit).

Ooookay . . . I’m sure all law offices have a small armory Simon thought, sarcastically.

Using his move-equivalent action (or free if you’ll allow it), Simon will scan the mini-armory for potential threats. if he doesn’t see any, he will tell Aiden as he motions to the armory “I would suggest you arm yourself. If you don’t know how to shoot, then just bring the shotgun and shells to me.”

With his attack action, if there is a threat in the armory, Simon will shoot it if it’s a critter, or just close the door and step aside if it’s too freaky. Barring that, Simon will attempt to shoot the creature fighting Mr. Whisper. If the creature has cover from one of the PC’s Simon will move to get cover from the corner of the other hallway against the creature and await his shot.
