[d20 Modern] Skydiving?

So, how would you stat a skydiver or base jumper? I'm guessing the adventurer occupation, but what skill? Jump, tumble?

Most systems use Tumble, but I could see Navigate being useful, too.

I would say Tumble definitely for the landing. Navigate to find the target, especially if para-gliding or the like. If it isn't a static line jump, and if you want to be really, really mean, you could request a skill check (like Pilot) or just a DEX check (DC something like 5) to insure an untrained skydiver doesn't mess up deploying canopy. Not really necessary, but divides the trained from the untrained.

And here comes the pimpage . . .Covert Forces Redux--which will be out soon--includes the rules for all sorts of skydiving (HALO, HAHO, LALO, Canopy Jumps, Tandem, etc) as well as a skydiving feat and equipment. Those who have purchased the original Covert Forces could comment on the rules, and they are ported over to Redux with only very slight alterations/corrections.

I think Tumble gets to many uses, and I take "Jump". The only weakness of this solution is that Jump is a strength-based skill, which probably doesn't fits for "precise falling".
A alternative might be Balance.

Thanks everyone. I just thought it was an odd omission. A feat is probably the best way to go, but it seems sort of low powered for a feat. Maybe it can be combined with something else?

I think Mustrum_Ridcully has hit on something here. Balance does fit--a landing is about Balance as much as it's about Tumble--and it gives an underweighted skill more punch, meaning buying ranks may seem more useful.

Good call.

Word the Feats so that it gives a +X bonus to any relevant skill when doing something relating to the task intended. :p

Fraser, were you happy with the outcome of Saturday's hockey (one can never be sure with a Canadian fan...)?
