D20 Modern - Sniper Weapon

I am playing a fast(3)/gunslinger(2) going to sniper at the appropriate level. I just leveled to gunslinger(2) and gain weapon focus. My question is, what is the best weapon choice for the build? There are two sniper riffles in the core book but they have a single rate of fire. Is there a better choice for weapon focus? And if not, then of the two of them which you think is better. Thanks in advance!

Sniper rifles are kind of predicated on having the ability to establish a good position far away from the target with a clear line of sight while remaining undetected. As to whether that fits the style of game you're playing in is not clear.

Of the two sniper rifles, the Barrett is clearly much more powerful but is also Huge sized and twice as heavy. Assuming your GM and you care at all about this, I would say the smaller one is more practical.

The Barrett isn't really a sniper rifle, but an anti-materiel rifle. It's also too heavy to practically move. PSG-1 will do, but so will a variety of hunting rifles with range increments of 90 feet or above. (Said hunting rifles are less likely to get you arrested, too!)

I believe there are stats for them out there in some other d20 products- check Sidewinder, for instance. Possibly Ultramodern, or one of the Spycraft products.
