D20 Modern suitable for X-Files/Alias style game?

If you aren't a slave to D20 then "Conspiracy X" is the way you probably want to go. It has IMHO hands down one of the best psionic systems ever created, and ghoust, ritual magic, paranormal, aliens (greys, atlanteans and some lizardtype folk) are all built into the core book. The system is simple and straight forward. Its by Eden Studios.

I ran a conspiracy-type pbp game on the WotC forum with d20 Modern. Other than adding a sanity-type mechanic the rules worked great.

It seems quite possible that that's exactly the kind of game the developers pretty much had in mind during the development of d20 Modern. Pretty much all of the "sample mini-campaigns" included with the book could be boiled down to that same description.
