D20 Modern Talent Tree Non Sequitors

Good ideas. Having the Ignore Hardness double as a magical "plus" for purposes of penetrating damage reduction also meshes well.

Btw, love Master-of-Arms. Are you the same Steve P. of Hero Games fame?

Gracias Felon, glad you're liking the book!

Nope on the Hero fame; that's why I resort to the Ivy League version of my name. Even worse, I've always loved the Hero System and wouldn't mind writing a book for it if I get the chance.

On other notes:

What would be a lot of fun I think is to see a Netbook of Talents with bunches of new Talent Trees for the Basic Classes. I'm not sure if adding to the number of options will create a balance problem but perhaps some kind of prerequisite or limiting factor could address that if it crops up.

Heh . . . a few days ago, Crothian and I disgussed an alternate ignore hardness tallent tree, and decided not to use 2/4/6 because we thought it was too powerful. It was like this:

Level 1: may accept -1 attack to ignore 2 hardness/DR
Level 2: may accept penalty on attack equal to half Strong level (round up), ignore double that amount of hardness/DR
Level 3: Spend 1 Action Point to ignore an additional 1d6 + your Strong level + your Str modifier DR.

now that makes more sense...thanks Dismas!

(is there any kind of official errata thread or other errata posts at Wizards?)

There is no official errata thread (as yet), but Charles is compiling a list of errata at the moment.

i went over to see for myself...since all of the [WOOF] threads are so spread out, it's hard to see if anyone's pointed the same couple of mistakes i've seen
