D20 Modern Wish List

Didn't think this was some sort of market-polling exercise... but I think it's valid enough that if people have things they'd like to see, and it's already been done, that they be pointed in the right direction. It would certainly help to demonstrate the real unfilled niches in Modern gaming.

That being said: many people have stated they want to see adventure resources. There are plenty out all ready. Let me name (and link to) a few.

I've seen a lot of these. However, D20 Modern is a fractured community, so getting people to agree on a small number of adventures isn't going to work. You need more than you need for DnD - a large number for just about any genre you can think of.

I've got a lot of military adventures already. I'm going to buy the rest of the Sword's Edge Publishing Series but that's probably all I'll buy from the list. I've got the LPJ adventures already (at least two of them need their NPCs rewritten...). I've got all the good non-FX WotC adventures... which is to say, there aren't many.

Many of the rest are heavily into FX, so I don't buy those.

From the look of it, practically all the adventures are either FX or military. It would be nice to see some more variety.

How about a D20: Heist?

It would be a sourcebook for bringing stuff like Ocean's 11, the Italian Job, Fletch, Big Trouble, and Get Shorty from the screen to the table.

That's a FANTASTIC idea.

And, while I know about Spycraft, D20: Espionage would be a good 96 pager... Great Game, Cold War, anti-terror and future.

Glad you like it! Know any D20 publishers that want to hire me to write it? ;)

Christopher Lambert: Oh, I was by no means implying that all avenues are covered... I just wanted to make sure people were aware of what is already out there before griping that there are no adventures for them. I'm sure folks will look at the adventures on that list and still go "Well crap, nothing here is what I'm looking for." I'm sure that's a much better way to show publishers where the untapped product potential lies.

The_Universe: You have a much better chance getting hired to write anything if you write it first. Trust me. It's like Ralts says: put up or shut up.

Adventures, adventures, adventures.

On the other hand, I too would like to see Dark*Matter and Star*Drive updated and integrated into the D20 experince.

Well, given you'd probaby get paid on delivery, why don't you just write it and then shop it around to the usual suspects?

OK well since many of us use Lulu.com to make printed version of our PDFs, my next question is why aren't you buying those books then?

Hey Phil, since you brought up Lulu.com, you mind if I ask how the quality is on their POD's?

For d20 Modern adventures, I think this is all WotC is willing to give us: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20modern/oaa/full

And I have to agree with Frukathka. Dark Matter and Star Drive need to be revised for d20 Modern/Future. I'd take a d20 Modern Star Frontiers Camapign Setting, as well.

As for other books, a good, thick Starships book with lots of options; one that fleshes out Mech rules, built for d20 Modern; and a big book of aliens, using something other than Star Wars or Star Trek as a guide.

Oh yes, and a pocket version of the main d20 Modern rulebook. Give me the rules and leave out the sample campaigns.

Cheers!
