D20 Past Cover Posted!

No, it doesn't seem like there will be any overlap with D&D. Having not seen the full description, I was only surmising. Our Editor loves mining the Modern line SRDs for more crunchy bits. I'm sure he'll be really excited. It sounds interesting.

Interesting. I'm curious how similar (or dissimilar) it will be to Grim Tales.
I'm actually guessing it will be a supplement similar to D20 Future, only focused on the Progress Levels before the current one, rather than the ones after.

But that's just a guess.

And apparently (according to the amazon link) it's a 96-page softcover? Yech.

Yeah - it looks like it's just a short one. The 224 pages for D20 Future was barely enough - I have a hard time believing that 96 pages is going be anywhere near as comprehensive as that, and D20 future had some pretty major holes.

That being said, I thought D20F was awesome.

Basing an opinion soley on page count isn't a good idea. :)

Even though it IS a small book, I can't wait for it. I don't need a huge book! Though, honestly, I would have preferred Future to be smaller and Past to be larger. But eh, I'll live.

I'd have been happy with another couple of hundred pages for each!

But ah - to dream!

Keep in mind that a past-based supplement doesn't have to be as broad as a future based supplement. Because it had to cover the better part of the Sci-fi Genre, it contained several alternate visions of the future. But there's really only one past. Sure, it might have various subject emphases, but it doesn't have quite as many bases to cover.

In 96 pages? I doubt it. While 224 pages are barely enough to cover d20 Future material (one can only pray for a second volume), that same page count can cover d20 Past material in-depth. I'm hoping it will cover the WW I era or the 1920's and 30's. Having just purchased and watched The Rocketeer DVD, renewed my interest for those "thrilling actions & adventures."

BTW, the cover is no different than the one posted here:

personaly i found the d20 future bland but workable. it had all the basics and it will not be hard to combo cybernetics, space, mecha and whatsnot into a workable world. the stuff that takes up space is flavortext and d20 future didnt need that.

i find it perfectly justifiable . alltho the cybernetics rules may make my people less willing to use high amounts of it tho. unless they have high level constitutuion (but in a d20 game, who dont?).

oh and that cover looks interesting, my fav is the guy in the coat. he makes me thing of a castle falkenstein/steampunk wizard or something ;) he i just missing a bowler or a tophat...

I thought the guy on the left in the coat looked more like a Sherlock Holmes detective, and the snake thingie on his walking stick perhaps hinted at a horror connection.

Oh well, I guess we'll find out.

I would be more excited if it were a bigger book. 96 pages? d20 Future did a very shallow job of covering the future in 224 pages, I don't see how they can cover much at all in 96.
