I am just curious: are there ENworlders from India?
Are rpg known and played in India?
I guess that the biggest problem would be that importing rpg books from the US would be way too expensive for most Indians. On the other hand, there are Indians in the US and in UK (those may know about D&D or rpgs), and I know of one Indian in France who actively played AD&D back in the days.

There are RPGs played in India - but only when I'm back on holiday and putting together a group :)

AFAIK, there's no RPG market in India and there's never been a real attempt to market RPGs in India. I'm referring to tabletop RPGs, since computer RPGs are readily available there and quite popular.

Facinating.
Cost issues aside I would have thought there would be gamers in India…

The primary barrier to playing DnD around the world is linguistic; something that a lot of educated Indians wouldn’t have a problem with. Even in Japan there is a small group of people with various degrees of English language skills who were playing DnD around the time 3.0 came out.

Are there negative cultural connatations?

Bollywood d20. I am intrigued by my ideas and wish to subscribe to my newsletter.
:D

During the last session of the M&M game I'm in, we were discussing an M&M campaign I'm starting for another group and joking about what I could do for a Bollywood setting. Instead of monologuing, villains could break into a dance routine. And all heroes would have the Quick Change ability with the flaw: only usable during dance sequences.
