d20 Supers: Recommendations?

Our group played Blood and Vigilance (which I'm assuming is the 'new version' you are talking about) and we absolutely fell in love with it. It is so easy to get accustomed to and extends d20 Modern so naturally we just loved it.

I've heard good things about most of the others mentioned here, but if you are looking for superheroic action with a great price tag and you want to base it off of d20 modern (whether you just like d20 modern, dont want to learn a whole new system, etc) then Blood and Vigilance IMO is the way to go. We had a blast with it.

I have to agree with ledded here, that if you want to tack something on to
d20 Modern, then Blood and Vigilance is the way to go.

Otherwise, if it's straight supers you want, Mutants and Masterminds all the
way...

My main desire is to be able to spend the minimum effort to get a game going. I want to avoid the number-crunching of Champions,

Then you definitely want M&M. It is about as streamlined as a D20 product can get.

Once you get up to speed on the mechanical differences from "vanilla" D20 (which won't take long at all) you won't find anything that plays faster & smoother.

M&M is certainly what I would choose, Hero is OK but at the end of the day is too antiquated for me. The one game I had of M&M was so easy to get into that we were up and playing within minutes of being given the char sheets, and that is including the differences between M&M and standard d20 games.

I think that M&M is the way to go. Especially if you want things simplified, the system is pretty straightforward. I really like the damage save mechanic.
