D20 Talislanta

Talislanta is an old fantasy setting with all knew races and societies (compared to D&D), this means, it's pretty exotic. It's its own game with its own system, momentarily available in the 4th edition. The system is based on the d20, but very simple, a true rules-lite system. The transfer to a d20 version should be relatively simple. There are lots of other supplements in the making, and if Talislanta d20 does well, some of them will be dual-statted. Btw, this dual-statting will be relatively unobtrusive, because both systems are based on a d20 and same numbers mean similar things; you just need a few more numbers for the d20 system ;).

My favourite fantasy setting, hands-down. This, coming from a huge FR fan. I can't wait for the new d20 version. . . . Hoody Hoo!

Over on RPG.net, I've had some discussions with the guys at Morrigan Press who are brining it out. My first worry was that it was going to be OGL which for Talislanta, would miss the point, at least to me. It's a high fantasy world with it's own unique identiy that was heavily influenced by the art of Ron Spencer and P. D. Breeding along with others and if the new version can bring Thralls and Witch Hunters into the d20 universe in a manner that allows them to say, invade Water Deep, it's good!

I may have to pick this up. I like the setting, but am more into the standard elves, etc. Still, to have some of the very cool ideas available for harvest with low-to-no work would be awesome.

Gah!

STILL NO ELVES!!

:D
I always found this to be a very stupid tagline. If a setting has to define itself by what it not is, this is usually not a good sign ;). Talislanta has enough positive reasons to like it :).

I've only played in Talislanta once, never ran a game, and I loved it. I loved the flavour/atmosphere and even made my own Deck for my spell caster.

The concern I have about d20 Talislanta is the way they handle the races in the game. Additionally Talislanta wasn't class/level based but experience point based. You would spend XP to improve abilities. If this isn't done "right" it could kill it.
